Rip Curl Pro Search Chile off for the day; awaiting new swell

ARICA, Chile (Wednesday, June 2, 2007) –Rip Curl Pro Search Chile Quarterfinals 2 through 4 will not run today. Small waves have seen the remaining six heats of Foster’s ASP World Tour competition called off for the day.

Quarterfinal 1 saw Andy Irons (HAW) take out Joel Parkinson (AUS) before winds swung onshore yesterday afternoon. With only a half day’s worth of surfing needed to complete the contest and five days left in the waiting period, officials have opted to wait for better conditions to materialize.

“A new swell is expected to pulse at Ex-Isla Alacran on Thursday and Friday, whilst early light winds should create clean conditions,” Ben Matson of swellnet.com.au said.

Another call on competition status will be made at 7am tomorrow
